Covaxin is the India’s indigenous drug. India’s drug regulator that is ( Central Drug Standard control organisation ) has allowed to conduct human clinical trials for “ Covaxin “ and it is the first indigenous covid-19 vaccine candidate that receives this approval.

This vaccine is developed by Bharat biotech India ( BBIL ) and National serum Institute of virology ( NIV ).
NIV ( that is comes under ICMR) isolated a strain of the virus from an asymptomatic covid-19 patient and transferred it to the Bharat Biotech India and then the work of vaccine development has done by Bharat Biotech India. That’s how these two bodies are developed the covaxin.
Covaxin is the inactivated type of vaccine, usually vaccines are of two types live vaccines and killed or inactivated vaccine.
What is live or attenuated vaccine?
When weakened or attenuated form of the germ that causes the disease is used for developing the vaccine then this type of vaccine is called attenuated vaccine.
Because these vaccine are so similar to the natural infection that person can get if he or she contacted with germ.
That’ how its help to prevent the disease and create a strong and long lasting immune response, through these vaccine human body already experience its presence and gets ready to itself in case of real infection.
