What are Immuno deficiency| Disorders ?

Immune deficiency disorders are related to our immune system (of the body).

Immune deficiency disorders

Immuno deficiency

It is a condition in which, the immune system of the body does not adequately  protect  body, due to immune disorder and because of this immune deficiency occurs that is called immuno deficiency.

Immuno deficiency disorders can be categorised  on the basis of its origin.

Primary immune deficiency

The cause of primary immune deficiency diseases are genetic in origin and are caused by internal defects in the cells of immune system.

Secondary immune deficiency

Secondary immune deficiency occurs due to malnutrition, infection, splenectomy, autoimmune diseases, tumors of immine system and immunosuppressive therapy.

Primary immune deficiency

This is occurs due to internal or specific conginital and genetic defects in the development of B and T cells or due to when the immune cells are improperly developed or either absent., example of these defects are:
  • Phagocytic defects

  • B-cell deficiency

  • T-cell deficiency

  • Combine B and T cell deficiency.

Phagocytic Dysfunction

Phagoctes are that components of blood which helps in fighting against infection in our body.

It is a primary immuno deficiency disorder that mainly affects phagoctye, such as neutrophils.

When neutrophils are impaired so that they cannot exit  the circulation and cannot travel to site of infection.

Thus the in person a normal inflammatory reasponse against infection causing organisms cannot activate and the person easily gets infections.

Some Symptoms that can be seen in phagocytic disorders.

  • Bacterial or fungal infection

  • Bronchintis

  • Pneumonia

  • Chronic otitis media

  • Sinusitis

  • Viral infections
These conditions can be seen frequenty in person with phagocytic disorders.

B-cells deficiency

B-cells deficiencies are inherited and are of two types;-

First is B-cell deficiency due to lack of differentiate of B-cells into mature B-cells.

And second is B-cells deficiency due to lack of differentiate of B-cells into plasma cells .

  • In Immune system, lymphocyte component is divided into B-cells and T-cells.

  • It is traditionally to be belived that the, B-cells are the lymphocytes that are reasponsible for antibody production or maturation into plasma cells ( which is a humoral immunity).

  • And T-cells are the lymphocytes that reasponsible  for killing other cells or organisms (which is cellular immunity).

  • Currently certain T-lymphocytes are known to be responsible for helping immature B-cells to develop into mature B-cells.

  • And other T-lymphocytes do the killing function.

Therefore any T-cell disorder has the potential to cause defective B-cell function.

Symptoms in B-cells deficiency
Some symptoms which you might seen in this deficiency.
  • Auto immune diseases like Arthritis,  Hypothyroidism.

  • Severe pyrogenic infection.

T-cells deficiency

T-cells play a protective role in immune system, deficiency of T-cells may increase chances of getting an infections.

Most primary T-cells immuno deficiencies are genetic, congenital or acquired.

Combined B and T-cells deficiency

The combined deficiency of T and B cells affects both cells resposes and causes impairement of both humoral and cell mediated immunity

Warning signs of primary immuno Deficiency  disease.

Some warning signs of primary immuno Deficiency diseases, that you can observe.,
  • Eight or more than eight  new infection within one year.

  • Two or more pneumonic episodes  (disease) within one year.

  • Frequent episodes of deep skin or organ abscess.

  • Continous thrush in mouth after one year of age.

  • When you are more than two months on antibiotics and there is little effects or sometime without any effect of antibiotic on you.

  • Two or more serious sinus infection in one year.

  • Two or more deep infection like sepsis, meningitis, osteomyelitis etc.

  • A family history of primary immuno-deficiency disorders.
